What does the cost of trademark registration depend on?

The cost of trademark registration depends on two main variables, which are the registration country and the number of goods and services classes you choose.

Each jurisdiction sets its own government fees, which are paid directly to the IP office. Most charge per class of goods and services, so adding more classes increases the cost. Some jurisdictions offer reduced fees for electronic filing or for small and medium-sized enterprises.

If you use a legal representative, their service fees are added on top of the government fees. Representation is optional in most jurisdictions for local applicants, but mandatory in some key jurisdictions for foreign applicants (including the US and EU).
